East Hoathly was successful in gaining funding for a village gateway in the autumn of 2008.

The design by Keith Pettit celebrates the history and community of the village, which is located near Lewes, East Sussex.

The project was funded by Wealden District Council as part of the "Cleaner, Greener, Brighter Wealden" campaign.

The living sculpture has been made from locally-sourced materials and designed to be sympathetic to its surroundings.

More information can be found on the gateway page and an archive of news bulletins following the build can be found from the progress pages here.
