The locally-sourced green oak, weighing in excess of 3 tons, arrived and was inched into place.

The oak, pictured right, has been laid out on bearers and will form the two carved screens that will flank the road.

The next stage will see a flurry of sawdust as each piece of oak is carefully carved on both sides, forming the backdrop to the gateway.
